The Coalition Against Rape and Abuse, Inc. (CARA), is a nonprofit organization providing the Cape May County community with the following services: 24 hour crisis response for domestic violence and sexual assualt. Emergency shelter, court transportation, information and referral, including community educational awareness on issues of abuse and support groups for both men and women is offered. Legal representation in certain domestic violence cases. The organization has a toll free number (877) 294-2272 and a second fax# (609) 463-0967. They have access to interpreters for all languages. The NJ Department of Human Services has designated CARA as the lead domestic violence agency in Cape May County. CARA is also the rape crisis agency for Cape May County.
