Atlantic County Intergenerational Services - Detention Diversion and Aftercare Program assists the court in determining a more appropriate placement than the county juvenile justice detention center. The project coordinator has two functions: presenting an incarceration alternative to the judge due to the mental health problems, family dysfunction or other special needs of the youth; and also acts as chairperson of the Dentention Review Committee which meets weekly to review juvenile offenders activity, present progress reports to court and other agencies. A social worker monitors the youth for compliance and assesses the family to provide referrals.
